Red Rock Chess Academy is designed for students ages 6–17 in the St. George, Utah area. We welcome complete beginners through experienced competitive players — everyone starts at their appropriate level and progresses at their own pace.
Zero experience needed. Complete beginners start at White Pawn and learn everything from scratch. Our curriculum scales from “never touched a chess piece” all the way to tournament-level competitor. We’ll meet your child exactly where they are.
Students progress through 6 tiers — Pawn, Knight, Bishop, Rook, Queen, and King/Graduate — each with 3 levels, for 18 total. Advancement requires completing rank-specific curriculum, achieving puzzle ratings, participating in tournaments, and demonstrating sportsmanship and character. There is no timeline pressure. Students advance only when they’re genuinely ready — never before.
Each private session is 100% tailored to your child. The coach reviews recent games, identifies specific weaknesses, works on targeted improvement areas, and builds a personalized plan for the coming month. This is where the biggest breakthroughs happen — and it’s included with every membership.
